The Ward Room was devoid of the usual conference table, instead it was a circular arrangement of chairs all spaced a good distance from one another so the gathering of officers could speak freely without the need for Face Masks but this still felt off to him, even if he had only been in this host a relatively short time, he had already become accustomed to the community feel of the humanoid form.

Now was not the time to get caught in ones own thoughts. Instead he needed to turn his attention to the coming meeting with the scientific minds on the station.

Alena quietly entered the room. While she had been cooped up in her office, she knew that things had taken a turn. For the worse. A virus was spreading, and fast too. She hoped that she could be of use, one way or the other.

Sekat limped into the room, expression drawn. He was visibly scared because this new modified virus seemed to hit those with copper based blood harder that others. At least that's what he'd been told. He leaned heavily on his cane, his exhaustion clear on his face as he finally found a seat.

Cautiously Abrasax entered, he was picked to represent Sciences in this matter, and so he went to a chair then sat down. He waited for the meeting to start.

Lieutenant Read was next to arrive. He held a padd in his right hand and have everyone respectful eye contact and a curt nod before heading to a vacant seat and sitting down.

"Thank you all for coming," Mel said walking in. She switched on one of the screens to connect them to Starfleet medicals representative.

"This is Lieutenant Charlotte Osler from Starfleet Command.

Mel lowered herself down into a chair her bump starting to look as big as ever.

"As of now I am declaring a pandemic on the station. We need to do everything we can do to lock it down. All ships currently docked must be secured. All crews to be confined onboard. All incoming ships must be diverted. And we need to trace anyone who has left in the last 24 hours to see if they are symptomatic."

"I'll place security teams at each docking birth to make sure people aren't exiting or entering docked ships." Read said as he made a note on his own padd. "Is there an incubation period for this? I only ask, so to reduce exposure those ships that haven't had another symptomatic within a certain time frame might be best to let them leave?"

Sekat looked towards the CMO. "How long was it before the first patients reported in?" he asked.

"It presented as cold and flu symptoms at first, from the away team who went to that medical facility and it seems to be that for the majority yet its contagious. For some it develops closer to the original strain of Symbalene blood burn. Testing on it, shows it to be a modified virus. It seems to target Vulcanoids more than other species," Mel told them. "It looks to be a deliberately created biological weapon," Mel finished sadly.

Read frowned, "Are you saying the station has been deliberately targeted by someone, doctor?"

"I'm saying someone has built something to deliberately target vulcanoid's. The who, the why, the when it happened are all unknown. We cannot rule out the possibility its some sort of attack. That they let us walk in knowing we would find it and are using us as some sort of sick testing environment. Or it could just be severe dumb luck we got exposed on an away mission. I don't have those answers. All I can tell you is that virus is designed to target Vulcans and any hybrid Vulcans," Mel told him.

Abrasax frowned at this news and gestured at the CMO. "Direct Sciences as you see fit Doctor, we will do whatever we can to help." He wondered if it would be worth contacting the Medical Exchange to see if they might have any info on this virus. "May I offer that we call the Interspecies Medical Exchange office and see if they have any assistance to provide?"

Alena listened intensely to the talk. While it definitely seemed to be targeting a certain species of people who had Vulcan blood in their veins. While it seemed like some of the people present looked like they were about to collapse from exhaustion, she knew that everyone were doing their best to confine the virus.

"Already done, along with going down the Floxaid research chain," Mel nodded at the science chief. "What I need science and engineering to do is find me a faster way to scan the masses and if you can do something about the Cardassian equipment in sickbay still. I know its been on engineering's list to strip out as much of what was left and replace with Federation technology but your list has been endless," she said.

"A magneton flash scan could help as it does the whole station in one intense sweep. Though it will cause a momentary pain in everyone's ears and eyes for a minute or two." Abrasax offered, "we just have to link it to the Medical computer and calibrate all the sensor emitter arrays across the station. I just need help from Engineering for the calibrations."

Keiben remained silent, observing the rooms occupants intently, his mind wandering to other objectives and how he could get those back on track despite the virus outbreak. He was also conscious that he needed to appear as the caring and compassionate commanding officer.

"Counsellor Alessa, I am very aware that this situation is far beyond what any of us had signed up for. How is this likely to affect the mental health of the crew if we remain in a forced lockdown as we are now?"

"It could potentially break a lot of people mentally in the long run. However, no one can afford to get out of lockdown as it is now. There's a great chance of people, who might not be affected by the virus, will be in risk of mental breakdowns. Relatives to infected patients will take a lot out of the energy said relatives might have left. Also those who works with the infected patients. They are in even greater risk of having to deal with mental health issues. I doubt we'll all get out of this alive", Alena said. "I'd say at least 80% chance of each person getting a mental breakdown", she went on.

"Lets hope then that we find a solution before anything like that comes to pass," Mel said.

"Dr D'BrooNi," the lady from Starfleet hq said, "We will review all our research and look over your data. Keep us informed of progress and I shall report things to the head of Medical here."

Mel nodded. Not something she wanted her name associated with, with the head of Starfleet medical but unfortunately circumstances were as they were. "Thank you Lieutenant."

"Right then," Mel wrapped up the meeting as the Lieutenant cut her link with them. "Lets get everything locked down and that flash scan in motion. Thank you all for coming and stay safe."
