Mission: Episode 5 - Objects In Motion
Location: Ops

Ronan was able to find his quarters with relative ease, however, he didn't think much to the Cardassian decor. After dumping his duffle bag, he headed straight back out to the Security office to report to his superior officer.

The crewman in the security office wasn't that helpful and told him to try Ops. The Stations Command center was a place Rohan was hoping to avoid for a long period of time. That was about to change as he rode the lift up to the Deep Space 21's brain center.

The lift door opened slowly and not with the standard Federation soft hiss. 'This is going to take some getting used too.' He thought to himself as he stepped out of the lift before looking around like a lost child trying to find his parent. He didn't have a clue who anyone was...

"Sir!" a young fresh faced Ensign approached, holding a stack of PADD's and wearing a smile that could brighten any room. "You look a little lost!"

'Meh.' He thought to himself as he looked towards the eager to please Ensign. "I'm looking for Commander Tobru, could you point me in the right direction please?"

"Over at the Operations Table" she said indicating with her free hand before she moved away, continuing on to complete her own work.

Tia's new role as XO had taken her out of security more than she'd like. However, she did enjoy being back in red once again, it just felt right. She stood over the Ops table as the delicate dance of ships coming in and leaving played out. At the side she had a small panel linked up to ongoing security incidents. You can take security out of the girl...

Looking up she noted a new arrival, her right hand man, Lt. Rohan Read. He seemed a pleasant enough man to look at but he did look a tad like someone had ruffled his feathers.

"Ah, Lt. Read. I trust you found your way here as painstaking and tiresome as most of us." she let that hang in the air. "Cardassians were not much for interior design, or comfort for that matter. Welcome aboard." she bowed in his direction as he approached.

"You're telling me, the quarters are...interesting." Read replied in an unimpressed tone. "Thank you, Commander. I'm sorry its taken a while to report in but trying to find you was becoming a fete."

Captain Holt walked out of her office, noting that there was a new person on the operations area. "I see we have a visitor to operations, has he been thoroughly cleared security wise to be here?" Now sure to even get to this level you had to have the security clearance to do so but, Tamaska wanted to see what sort of answer that could be given, her face devoid of any expression and was just watching.

"I hope so, I'm the stations new deputy chief of security." Read replied with a smirk. "Its a pleasure to meet you, Captain." He added with a respectful bow of the head.

"What is your name, Lieutenant?" Tamaska said in return. "And we'll see if it is still a pleasure after your first day." there was the slightest twinkle in her eyes but nothing else showing on her face. "How about the three of us go into my office and we'll do a bit more conversing there. " turning around to head back inside her office.

As Tamaska crossed the threshold Keiben stepped to one side allowing them all in. In his hands a small box with his personal belongings. It felt odd to be relinquishing the office but it was by right the station Commanders office even if he was the Sector Commander.

"Enjoy the office Captain!" he said, stepping over the lip of the door and heading for the turbolift. "Welcome to the Station Lieutenant!"

Tamaska felt weird seeing that box going out of the office when it was Keiben's office for as long as they had been there.

"Commodore, enjoy your new larger office." she remarked as he stepped beyond the threshold. She felt sort of out of place, at this time.

This was exactly the reason why Read didn't want to be in Operations. Being with brass made his skin crawl, he preferred to do his job and be left alone. He followed the ranking officers into the...ready room? Or whatever the Cardassian equivalent was.

"I can promise you Captain that Lt. Read would not have been able to get onto the bridge without clearance to do so." Tia offered Tamaska. She made it a point to protect her officers and in turn expected the same back from them. "I have updated the previous security systems in Ops with my own upgrades to strengthen our position here. If he had a personal cloak he still wouldn't get in here." she joked a little to lift the mood. First meetings were uncomfortable enough.

They moved into the office and Tia chose to stand by her Deputy Chief rather than XO. Yes, Tamaska and she were a united front but in this instance, and any to come should security be involved, she would always stand with her people.

The movement of Commodore Haistro did give her a moments pause. She hadn't been on the station long enough for it to impact her in a strong sense but still, seeing one carry ones things in a small box always did make her think of past experiences.

Tamaska actually smiled at seeing Tia's reaction, and hearing her answer." As for you, Lieutenant Read. Welcome aboard." Tamaska walking around to take a seat behind the desk.

"Thank you, its a pleasure to be here." Read lied, but he felt he needed to make some effort infront of brass.

"Well at least you are here with the station in better repair than when I first came onto the station." Tamaska stated, "Glad you think it is a pleasure to be here. Though I am sure this isn't the first place you'd rather be. I would rather be on a ship, but hey, I am dealing with the cards that have been dealt to me. The place has grown on me though, after all of the work that has been done here." she took a look at both Tia and Read. "Now my question I am putting forth to you, Lieutenant Read. Do you think you are capable in dealing with strange phenomena and keep a cool head?"

"I've done it my whole career, Captain. I can't see why i can't continue here." Read replied. It was an odd question, 'How much strange phenomena do they get here?' He thought to himself.

Tamaska flashed a smile, "and just in case you might be wondering, I can give you a prime example or two of what I am talking about." Tamaska seeing if Read was paying attention. "When we first came upon this station, we dealt with a AI who was messing with those of us here. And another situation, we went back in time, very, very, very far. Back in time. "

Read raised an eyebrow, curious. "I bet temporal investigations loved visiting the station after the time travel." He said with a small smirk.

A large shiver ran down Tia's spine and she shook her head in typical response to the very thought of time travel. She hated it. Although she couldn't really complain, she was after all a subject of inter-universal travel herself. "I think they just have a field office here now." Tia joked coming back to the conversation.

All Tamaska did was give a slight smile, not saying a word about that possibility or not. "Anway now that the introductions have been made, I think this meeting is at an end. I will leave you in my XO's good hands." her smile broadening.

"Thank you, Captain." Rohan replied with a respectful nod.

As Tamaska left Tia looked back at Rohan and gave him a soft smile. "Well, welcome to DS21. If you head down to the security suite and get yourself situated. The team will no doubt fill you in on bad spots, people to watch etc, and whereas that is helpful I'd encourage you to keep an open mind on what you see, who you speak to. There are lots of different species here and sometimes the more junior officers lean into the make believe or stories they here. I know you are more experienced and will hopefully behave differently. I won't keep you from exploring though. Lots of interesting places to see."

"I'm well seasoned despite the rank that has been given to me. Listen to everything, watch everyone, trust nothing. I know the job ma'am. You have nothing to worry about. Security will be in good hands while you play station XO." Rohan replied.

"I don't 'play' at anything, Lt. Read." Tia smiled, she took both her roles seriously. "I will still be keeping overwatch on Security but more of the day to day will be handled by yourself. I know it is in capable hands. Now, off you go. Go catch something interesting."

Rohan smirked, "Understood, ma'am." He gave the Commander a respectful nod before turning and leaving.
