Reporting back in

Liam straightened his collar. Cade was sat outside while he did the required. There was no point going anywhere else right now as he did not know his assignment. Would he be sent back down to resume running the colony or given something a new.

Commodore Haistro was gone. The senior staff were trying to get over the recent infiltration and its aftermath. The station had changed very much in his absence.

Ringing the chime he wanted for admittance.

The large doors parted and a slender, almost tiny looking Humanoid sat in the oversized chair on the opposite side of the desk. She was trying to control her emotions and the feelings of loss and being in over her depth as he entered, she could already sense he was a fellow Betazoid.

"Commander... Reynolds is it not?"

"Yes Maam," Liam said standing to attention. Of course he could sense her grief. Part of him was tempted to send out a telepathic wave just so she knew he rabeemed but this was the first time meeting the woman. "Back from Hiatus from the homeland. I'm reporting in for my new assignment."

"Glad to have you Commander. My understanding is that the station needs a Strategic Operations Officer, someone to coordinate starfleet deployments in the region as well as the stations tactical systems and intelligence reports... I may also ask if you could act as Liaison with the colony below us... if you feel you will have the time?"

She motioned for the commander to take a seat across the overly sized desk from her.

"Thank you Maam," Liam said taking the offered seat. "I'm a counselor by background but since doing the command programme have been assigned too and expanded my experience in new roles. I would be happy to take over ops for you and my last role I actually set up that colony.

I consider it a happy duty to continue being involved as a liaison there. I lived down there for several months so its a special place for me," he said. It really was despite the breakdown of his marriage.

"I already have good working relationships with the people down there."

"That's good to know. I'm still finding my feet here but it looks as though my legacy senior officers are on top of things and my replacement senior officers are already well ahead of me" she laughed lightly, the first time she had laughed since arriving.

"Well good senior staff are supposed too support you best they can and try anticipate what you require maam," Liam said with a smile. "Have you had chance to go down and see the colony yet?" he asked. If not he would arrange a visit for her.

"Not yet. Perhaps you would be kind enough to take me on a tour as you are familiar with the town?"
Who knew, if it seemed a nice enough place then she was already on the lookout for a nice little river side property, somewhere cozy that would be her forever home once her tour of service with Starfleet was complete.

"I will get that organised. Happy too Maam," Liam nodded.

"Thank you" she stood from the desk, her stomach informing her that she was now hungry and her back telling her she needed to rest and be comfortable. Perhaps now was the time to call it a day and find her quarters.
"Well commander... Welcome back once again. I won't keep you from settling back in but I do expect you on duty from tomorrow if that is agreeable?"

Liam nodded. "Yes Maam. Thank you. I will go settle myself and my son in our quarters now. Get him enrolled in school too. And see you tomorrow."

"You will indeed Commander!" what could she say, she liked him. Something about him just spoke of a calmness that to be honest she found she was in need of.
