“Computer open a subspace channel to Lieutenant Colonel Jack Patton, or the Marines contingent at Poseidon Station,” Liam ordered.

Jack sat in his office reading over the latest fleet and marine deployments through the sector. A lot had changed now that they were back from their mission. “Colonel Patton incoming message from Aristaeus Colony. It is the Colony Commander, Lieutenant Commander Liam Reynolds.” The watch officer reported from station operations. Jack had not heard from Liam since his transfer to the colony. “Put it through to my office please Lieutenant.”

Jack turned toward the console on his desk and smiled as the image changed from the logo of the United Federation of Planets to the face of Liam Reynolds. “Liam it has been a little while. How are you?”

“It has my old friend. I hope you don’t mind me calling and that everything is good. I see you had a promotion. Congratulations,” Liam said.

“Thank you! Congratulations to you as well. From what I am reading you are doing some great work over there at Aristaeus. No offense my friend…” Jack said with a smile. “...But you don’t have to be Betazoid to see that this is not only a social call.”

“I think I just experienced a repressed memory. From one of the times I was kidnapped in that mirror reality and I need your help,” Liam told him.

“Well I am here and will do what I can. What was the dream about?” Jack sipped his ever present cup of coffee. Today was about to get a whole lot more curiouser and a lot more interesting.

“It wasn’t a dream. I believe it's a repressed memories. I may have a child. A son. As you know “they” did things to me and messed with and removed some memories.I remember Amia. Well their version of her. She looked after me there. I think it may have boiled over into more than a doctor/patient relationship. She kept me alive. During the tests.

The last time I was kidnapped. She had a son. They said it was the emperors but she hated that guy …. im not convinced. The time ship/reality jump ship guy. Would you be able to get some intel. If anyone knows its them right? They wanted me to go back and pose as the Emperor for their own purposes before I left the station. They have to know things.

Jack had many ideas of who Liam could be thinking about. However, first in his thoughts was Thorrin. From what little Jack knew about the Captain he knew that Thorrin would be the kind of officer to force Liam undercover as the Emperor. Thorrin played things close to his vest and Jack knew it. The big question here was would Thorrin share any information. “The Department of Temporal Investigations has opened an office here. I can chat with them and see what they can tell me. But they are a secretive bunch as you know so it may be a little tough.”

“If he's my son I want to bring him here. His mother too if its possible. A life where they are safe, have a proper family. Somehow. If that's possible.”

“Something like that would be hard to pull off without the DTI. As I understand it anything could affect the future and cause issues. Although I believe things like this have been done before. Do you know a place in that universe to start with should someone want to go get them.” The wheels in Jack’s head began to spin and a plan began to take shape. He would have to figure out a way to pull this off with little to no help.

“That's a tough one. If I have to submit to the DTI to get them to do this I will. I hate the idea of it but it's my son Jack,” Liam said. “I would rather it did not have to come to that. I don’t believe it would be a good thing to align with them to manipulate a universe that already has enough issues just for people to gain power. But if its the only way ….” he said sadly knowing Kaylee would not be happy at this idea.

“The last thing I was told was that Niska in that reality got Cade away. My brother's counterpart said that. It would be somewhere I believe she would consider safe. Obviously that hideous place is not the same as our reality but I believe she would seek help from family or friends. She did not have mine in that reality as this one. So I wonder if she would head to the colony she grew up in. I can send you coordinates but … Jack, it's a hell hole. You would have to be careful. She got away from there for good reasons,” Liam said. He was one of the few people Niska had shared some of her past with.

“If Niska succeeded in getting Cade away from that universe then it would make sense that she would go to a place that was familiar to at least herself. Then she could seek to find you, I mean getting to this universe would be the first hurdle. Send me the coordinates, I will go check it out. Dealing with that place as got to be better than dealing with the DTI. It is worth a shot.” Jack would leave The Kingsmen in Brina’s capable hands for the time being and find Cade. If the child was on the colony then all the better. If not then he would head back to Poseidon and get the DTI involved.

“Thank you Jack. Even if it's not my son, at least a child linked to our experiences in that other universe can have a better future. Hopefully. And if it is my son, I owe you big time,” Liam said.
