A new face meets a new face

Mission: Episode 4 - The Fires Of Hades

ON:

Lillian was sat in the replomat enjoying a raktajino, as her shift had finished for the day. While she sat there, she was watching the people passing on the promenade going about their various activities. She was amazed how quickly they had managed to turn this abandoned station into a bustling hub of activity once again, even in the middle of the Briar Patch, and even with their current vole problem.

One or two junior officers passed her and acknowledged her with a smile and a nod, which she returned. After the incident, Lillian was finally getting used to her new face in the mirror every morning.

Among the various people passing, Lillian spotted a young female ensign with long dark hair who she didn't recognise, wandering past with a puzzled look on her face. She was sure she had seen her walk by in one direction and now she was heading back in the other as if looking for something or someone.

Lillian stood and headed over to her. "Excuse me, I couldn't help but notice you seemed to be looking for something, maybe I can help? I'm Commander Carter, Lillian." she smiled as she held out her hand.

Alena smiled and shook Lillian's hand. "I'm Alena Alessa, the Diplomat's aide. Nice to meet you. I arrived a couple of hours ago. I'm trying to find the next turbolift. I decided to go down to the promenade, just to see things, and then find the next turbolift, so I can get my physical and my security check", she told the other woman. "I am lost, to be honest. Finding my way around on the first day at a place has never been my strong suit", she added with a smile.

"It's nice to meet you too," Lillian replied. "There's the infirmary down that way along with the turbolift..." she pointed with her hand, then turned "And the security office is over there. It's a big station and it's easy to get lost, and some things aren't clearly marked as of yet. So is this your first posting?"

Alena nodded. "I graduated 6 months ago with a major in diplomacy. While it is overwhelming, it is also exciting. I've never been to a place as unique as this space station", she told Lillian with a smile.

"You're right there, definitely exciting. I got assigned to the Copernicus straight out of the Acadamy, helm officer. Now I find myself chief intelligence officer of a space station and in command of Prometheus class starship. So, do you need to do your physical first or your security check?"

"I think the health check might be a good place to start. I'll go to the security office after that", Alena said with a smile. "It's been a while since I've seen such a variety of people outside the Academy", she added thoughtfully.

Lillian smiled. "Come on then, I'll walk you to the infirmary."
