Mel had got out of the meeting as quickly as possible spouting she had to go see a pregnant patient. It was strictly true. It also meant she didn't have to have round 2 with Keiben which she didn't think she could face having to tell him about there was now a horrible rumour - well someone called Minka knew and it was a small ship, going round that she was having an affair with one of the new pilots.

She liked to think that Keiben knew her well enough to not entertain she could do anything like that. But then again her daughter had. She just knew she had to sort it out with Kotan's wife before it got anymore crazy.

"She going to be pissed. You know it. She's in early pregnancy. Cardassian hybrid ..."

"All those hormones flying around ..." Mina stated.

"I know. I'm a doctor not completely clueless," Mel found herself saying out loud.

She could feel a knot in her stomach. Yes she did have a lot of hormones. She was planning on explaining to her when she came in for her first check up just how potent and unfortunate the mix was with her biology.

Mel pressed the chime.

Neshia made herself get up from the couch where she had been wrapped up in a blanket, still reeling from the shock and the hurt she was feeling, when the young woman, Doctor Mel's daughter and.. Minka? Dropped the bomb on her. Neshia opened the door and saw that it was Mel standing there on the other side.

Her eyes narrowed to mere slits, and hissed. If there had been an actual wooden door, Neshia would have slammed it in Mel's face. "You.. you... broke my heart!!" she screamed out in rage and leaped onto Mel, slamming her to the ground. "I thought we were going to be friends!" she sobbed out, "I .. I- thought we were going to be friends!" sitting up straddling her stomach, and grabbing the front of Mel's outfit, with both hands to shake her.

Mel wasn't expecting to suddenly go flying and be pinned to the floor. Something cracked as she all but got an “umpmmm” out.

“She bloody tackled you.....” one of her hosts said in disbelief.

Mel winced as whatever had cracked wasn't appreciating being shaken now as she was sat on her. “I haven't done anything with your husband. Neshia I need you to calm down and let me explain what's going on.”

“And get off you or your going to have to use a couple of moves K’Nara showed you one time, ” Leiko hissed.

“Not on a pregnant woman, ” Mel insisted. She vaguely wondered if she was going to end up having to call security at this rate. Yes Charlie was grounded she decided.

Neshia looked down at Mel, hearing the doc's voice, her rage melting into dismay and horror. "Oh.. no.. what have I done!" she rolled herself to one side, feeling nauseous and starting to dry heave. What was happening to her? She hadn't been told of this happening before, and what to expect!

Mel tried to sit up then shuddered as the pressure of trying confirmed a fracture, possibly her clavicle. She gritted her teeth and made the motion again managing to sit up this time. “Don’t worry. It's your hormones. We need to go over that. And after what my daughter did I can't blame you for pinning me go the floor, ” the trill said honestly.

It took a balancing act but she managed to stand again and offer her hand down to the carddassian hybrid. “May we go inside and straighten things out?”

Neshia nodded, sniffling and got up from the floor with Mel's help. "I-I am so sorry! I hope you will forgive me." as she led the way into her quarters. "I am feeling so muddled!"

Mel nodded. “You sit down.”

Neshia nodded and sat down, trying to keep herself in check.

Mel replicated a medical recorder and ran it over the other women. “Okay your have to be further along than what I could get the biobed to read. I'm sorry I didn't think to get a hormonal analysis... Let's do that now...

The tricorder started spitting out readings...

“Oh gosh yes. Neshia your 3 months in already. No wonder your feeling all over the place.

Your biology... It can cause some rocky hormonal spikes. I can get you something to help even it out right now but we are going to need to monitor this,”

Neshia's eyes widened, a sense of fear and dread washing over her. "I am going to be okay right?"

Mel went back to the replicator and ordered a loaded hypospray. She approached slowly concerned for a moment she might just decide to send her flying again.

Neshia held herself still, literally sitting on her own hands to make certain she didn't make a sudden move. She could feel a strange feeling come over herself, a protective feeling. "Don't worry, I won't move. I feel so foolish on this."

“Your not and your going to be just fine, ” Mel told her stepping closer and administering the dose. “This will start to balance things again. In ten minutes you will feel a brand new you. But it will wear off, so we are going to have to monitor things and keep giving you doses. Depending on which hormone and Stress is also a huge factor in what can set off imbalance. My daughter coming to you like she did hasn't helped there at all. I can only apologise and explain.”

She fiddled with the hyposoray dial and found a pain relief drug that could take the edge off her shoulder and pressed it to her own neck before taking a deep breathe as some immediate relief began to stop the sharp flashes of pain up her neck. She would try explain now.

“He helped me land a shuttle. And brush up my flying. In the holodec. We had a few sessions booked out in holodec 2. I crashed it so many times. He was so patient and understanding. When I finally managed to land it, I'm so sorry.... I was so elated I hugged him and kissed his cheek. That was it. It was gratitude. Nothing more. I'm not trying to steal your husband. I've been married. And cheated on. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.”

Neshia nodded, "Okay, it looks like there was some misinformation given and I went crazy.. And again I am sorry, I wouldn't want to wish that on anyone either. Its... okay that you kissed him on the cheek." She was quiet for the moment, and then realizing she had hurt Mel. "Oh dear, I hope that the Captain will forgive for attacking someone on his ship, and hopefully Kotan will forgive me as well."

“I don't think we need to bother the Captain. It's a tiny fracture which once I have my kit I can sort in a second, and you weren't yourself. I forgive you, ” Mel said simply. “And yes my daughter and someone called Minka I believe put 2 and 2 together and made 52.

I am seeing someone you see Neisha but it has to be discreet. I hadn't told Charlie at that point and well if I can give you any advice about kids, when they become teenagers they are wading through hormones too. And they are far cleverer than you can ever give them credit for. Lo and behold to me, she had figured out something was going on and decided to follow me. She had half the information, completely got the wrong end of the stick and made a decision, to speak to you without thinking through the consequences. I am so sorry she put you through that. In fact I'm mortified.”

"I think we can call ourselves... evenly mortified? She is protective of you and.." Neshia bowed her head in some shame. "I shouldn't have been so quick to jump to conclusion. I must confess though, I was a little bit jealous of you talking with Kotan when you were discussing the piloting with him. I guess I've got a bit of a possessive streak in me, I hadn't realized. Do you want to try to, create a new start and be friends. If we can... make it through this first hardship, we could end up being better friends? That is if you can trust me at some point." her head rising up to look at Mel.

Mel smiled and nodded. “I think we can still be friends. I'd like that. Very much. And I've no reason not to trust you. Is that kicking in? Are you feeling better?”

"Yes, I am feeling more.. balanced." Neshia giving a laugh. "Okay how about this. Hi I'm Neshia Yojar, I'd like to be your friend. Sometimes I can act mentally imbalanced, due to being pregnant. Don't worry I won't bite hard?" she stuck out her tongue in mockery of herself.

It was that moment the doors to their quarters slipped open and Kotan strode in, jacket in hand and looking somewhat grubby from his days work. The last six hours he had been elbow deep in the intercooler systems of the Hunley shuttle, getting it ready for the mission ahead.
"Hi honey" he kissed his wife on the cheek. "Doctor, what a pleasant surprise... you after another round in the holodeck?"

Mel's eyes widened and her hand went defensively and subconsciously to cover her collar bone. Talk about again the worst thing for someone to say. She thought this day was just starting to get better.

She cleared her throat really hoping Neshia wasn't going to take that the wrong way and her be back to square one again, “I’m just here to administer your lovely wife a shot,” she said thinking she probably didn't want her husband knowing about the misunderstanding and her injury.

Neshia nodded, "Yes, Doctor Mel came to check on me, I was feeling a bit off, but I am good now." giving a cheerful reply.

"Is anything wrong with the baby?" he took Neshia's hand almost by reflex, worry falling around what had been a good day.

"No not at all. The only thing is the babies a little further ahead than we thought and there's some hormone issues that Neshia is enduring which just require a close eye on and the odd shot," Mel said.

"Oh, in that case I will leave you to look after my wife... i need to shower, I have coolant all over me!"

The young Cardassian started to remove his undershirt as he moved from the living space and into the bedroom, completely oblivious to the real reason the Doctor had dropped by.

"Your all good now. Just page me if ... you start feeling off balance again at all this evening and we will schedule a proper appointment tomorrow in sickbay to work out a better way to monitor things," Mel said standing up to leave. "And I know you don't bite," Mel smiled at her making to escape.

"I will do so, and sorry once more." Neshia's cheeks flushing darker. "This will be our little secret, okay?" she said quietly to Mel, then said in a more normal tone. "Thank you, you are a lifesaver. Then in another quiet tone Neshia added. "I trust you, and if you need Kotan to do more practicing. It will be okay with me."

Mel pretended to zip her mouth, the shook her head. “Thank you but think I'm okay now. I'll see you tomorrow.”

"Alright, will see you tomorrow. And.. thank you once again." Neshia, walking Mel to the door. "Hope you have a pleasant rest of the evening." giving a wry smile.
