Mission: Episode 4 - The Fires Of Hades
Location: USS Cerberus - Main Bridge
Timeline: Mission Day 10 jumping to 14 @ 1300 Hours

ON

Lillian walked confidently onto the bridge of the Cerberus. Their mission today was simple enough, deploy some communication relays so the station had communications outside of the Briar Patch. The Comm relays had been loaded into the main shuttle bay and they were ready to depart."

"Signal Ops to release docking clamps and standby on thrusters," Lillian ordered

"Already done 'Commander'," Ensign Adams said from the helm slightly tongue in cheek. "Course laid in and awaiting your order!"

Lillian smiled "Lay in a course for the 1st set of coordinates, half impulse, and alert the shuttle bay to prepare to get the first communication relay deployment. Engage."

"Aye, sir!" the burly and once again jovial hybrid said as his fingers started to dance across the helm. It had been a while since he had been out as pilot of a Starship, in fact he couldn't remember a time since his academy training cruise, and it felt good. Perhaps he needed to speak with Commander Carter about switching departments.

Hiro turned away from the Engineering station he was standing at. "Engineering reports ready as well, Captain. All green across the board."

Lillian replied "Very good. Tactical, keep an eye out for any other ships. The Briar Patch makes it difficult to get any kind of early warning."

"Keeping an eye out sir," the cheeky Betazoid security officer grinned, "keeping a finger on the trigger just in case too. Maybe, while we're out here we can do some target practice?"

Two Days Later

The bridge had been quiet as the few days had passed, slowly trudging through the soup that made up the Briar Patch. Cerberus had made good time but it was still slow going. Dropping of a communications satellite, getting it operational safely clearing any of the denser pockets of Metreon Gas before moving on to the next set of coordinates. Not fifteen minutes out from their final stop when the sensors picked up an eddy in the burnt orange cloud around them.

"Adams to Carter, please report to the bridge!" It could be any number of things, simply a current within the stellar remnant that was the Briar patch but at the same time, it could easily be an impulse wake. "We have detected something you may want to see!"

Lillian walked out of her ready room onto the bridge "Report."

"Some for of wake or eddy of our port side... We only detected it because of the Metreon Clouds moving against the stellar currents!"
Adams said as he moved back to the Conn, his temporary home from home.

Romulan Warbird Shr'vista

On the bridge of the Romulan Warbird, Admiral Senclar looked at the vessel within his sight. At the moment the ship was cloaked, and he was observing what the craft was doing. Noting that the ship may have been observed, the Voldare dropped its cloak and the ship was revealed in all of its glory, The green of the Voldare class ship, stood out against the crimson and orange of the cloud they were in.

USS Cerberus

As Lillian Sat down, a Romulan warbird appeared on the viewscreen as it emerged from one of the nearby gas clouds. "Ah, I see we have some company. Hail them."

Anja sent out the hail, "This is the USS Cerberus."

Romuland Warbird Shr'vista

"Hailing frequencies open sir" was told to Nurribe. When the viewscreen came on it would be seen a rather regal-looking Romulan, a romanesque nose, his hair black with white at his temples. His dark brown eyes seemed hard as flint as he locked gaze with Carter. "Who are you?"

USS Cerberus

Amelia put on her best poker face "I'm Commander Carter of the USS Cerberus. And you are?"

"I am Admiral Nurribe Senclar, what brings you to this sector if you don't mind my asking, as he gauged the reaction of the captain of this ship and also took note of those on the bridge. His upper lip curled up slightly as he noticed those that were there.

Adam's had been listening intently to the exchange but something on his board caught his attention. He subtly indicated to Carter he had something she needed to hear.

"Excuse me a moment," Lillian said quickly, then gave the gesture for the channel to be muted. "Put it through."

Once the line was muted he turned to face his Commander.
"We are getting a distress call from one of the stations Runabouts!"

"Runabout Plutus to USS Cerberus or Deep Space Twenty One, respond, please. We are in need of assistance!"

"Plutus this is the Cerberus, hang on we're on the way." She then called out to the helm "Lay in a course and get us there as fast as possible, try not to overload the impulse manifolds, I know they don't like it in here."

"Put the Romulan back on." She turned her attention back to the viewscreen. "I'm afraid we'll have to pick this up another time commander as we're needed elsewhere. Feel free to drop by Starbase 21 anytime. Cerberus out."

Romulan Ship

Nurribe stared out at the ship there, that was a rude beginning he thought "Follow them! I want information as to what they are doing here!" he snapped out as he glared towards the departing ship.

USS Cerberus

"Romulans in the Briar Patch. I don't like it." Hiro said after the channel was closed. "What are they doing here?"

"Nothing good sir, I can guarantee that!" Adams said to Lieutenant Yoshida with a grim look on his face.

"Take us to yellow alert," Lillian ordered. "Let's see what's up with the Plutus."
