ON

The landscape was idyllic and he recognised it as the same location he had used for his holodeck program, his Garden. The Jalara Falls setting the scene some distance away and facing those same cascading waterfalls, her hair fluttering in the breeze was someone he did not recognise but a feeling as if he should know her. She was beautiful in every consideration, perfect.

"Excuse me miss but what are you doing here!" he asked as he made his way towards her yet seemed to make no traction in actually reaching her, as if treading water. He started trying to run but still moving without moving, his powerful legs propelling him at speed without any success.

A hand on his shoulder stopped him and he could feel the blinding heat of light caressing the skin on the back of his neck, a pair of lips close to his ear whispered in an almost musical voice "You called me, you all did. My time has returned. All this has happened before, and it will happen again!"

Keibens eyes fluttered open, the lights blinding him for a moment as his eyes adjusted. It took a few moments to realise he was in sickbay... Or somewhere similar at the very least. Was it Cardassian in design?

It all came flooding back to him and he sat bolt upright on the biobed. "Did we stop her?"

"Easy Keiben," Mel said softly. "If you mean the AI the engineers seem to think its been banished. You have been through quite the assault. Charlie caught me up. How do you feel now?"

At the sound of his fiancée's voice everything else dropped away, nothing else mattered and it all became nothing more than white noise. He had not been able to grieve when the Copernicus had exploded with the knowing his soon to be wife would likely have not survived long on the wreck of the Yosemite, but now, with her standing before him, his mind able to reach out to hers and know she was real, his composure crumbled like a house of cards caught in a breeze.

"Mel... Your alive!"

He was on his feet crossing the medical bay with three strides, his arms outstretched so he could wrap her in his arms and lock his lips with hers.

She returned the kiss. "I am and I knew it would take more than something blowing up the ship to kill you off. The Orion tried to make my mind falter but I knew your strength. Plus you don't get out of marrying me that easily ...." she joked. "Charlie was very worried though. About you and her new uncle."

"Where is she... Is she hurt?"

An almost fatherly feeling came over him at the mention of Charlie but his mind immediately sprang to the other few children on his crew manifest. "What about Ilya and Connor and everyone.... Is everyone safe?"

"Ilyas ended up on the Yosemite with me. Worried about Peter of course and a strange fascination with the Orion we found on the bridge ... Charlie yes I need to talk to you about that. She had to stun your brother, my head nurse and Lieutenant Tua. Apparently they encountered Yelena and she/It/Whatever it truly was - Charlie thinks there was some of her real personality in the form she returned as ... it had a psionic and strange affect on all three. Charlie was concerned about the Vulcan doctor. There readings looked like they were going into pon farr and she was the only female present.

Your brother ... he has a few issues its seems. She didn't elaborate and well I think Tua and Anek are still struggling to co-function well," the Trill said. "I think I will take some time to visit him again and see if I can suggest anything to ease that process ... but I digress. I think you will need to put her in the brig offically and we will need to ground her. So be prepared for loud SKUL music in defiance well when we settle down and figure out where everyone is sleeping ..."

"Actually I'm really proud of her! Sounds like she handled herself in a manner befitting a Starfleet Officer!"

He pulled Mel close again, unable to hold his emotions in check still. "I don't want to wait any longer Mel... As soon as we can I want to marry you!"

"I would have wanted Paddy and Tay here but the last 24 hours, yes I agree. We could get eaten by cannibal Cardassian's or something even weirder tomorrow. I mean ... seriously who left this station behind. Where are they?"

"Lets make sure we are safe and then we can tug on that thread and see where it leads!"

He kissed her once more, deeply, savouring the touch of her lips against his before releasing her. "So am I clear to leave the... Infirmary, is that the right term for one of these stations?"

"For now. Don't go too far though," She told him seriously. "And if you feel any of what you went through before you call me straight away Captain."

"Before I go... I notice you omitted casualties... How many?"
His mood turning very sombre but he needed to know the truth so he could make arrangements at the earliest possible time.

"One death. I've only seen a few re: causalities. The ones my daughter shot....... People are still filtering through though and still arriving via being beamed by escape pods. They seem to be more stunned than physically hurt. Peters going to have his work cut out for him," Mel answered.

"I'm likely going to be stuck her a while. Let me know where we find someplace to sleep," she said kissing him quickly then reaching out for her PADD.

"Guessing you've been up all night?" he asked without a pause.

"Its the nature of being a doctor," Mel said simply. "It will all calm down again and don't worry I'm used to putting in long hours. You go unpick all this and get us into a position where we know what the plan is going forward. Captain," she said with a smile.

"We will have a senior staff meeting in Ops just so we can all touch base in about an hour" he did pause this time as a few more came in through the double doors to the infirmary. He side stepped as two carried a third in. "I'll get out of your hair... If you need anything call... Your operations are priority right now!"

"I will," Mel said.

He kissed her once more before turning and heading out to assess for himself the state of play.
